“Sketch being a rudimentary conceptualising part of an idea which will later will translated to a physical or visual final product/s at the end and Book is mainly a collection of these sketches or rudimentary ideas compiled into a bounded book or portfolio (which may be made out of a piece of chewing gum wrapper, a piece of fungal infested durian leaf, a low quality 60g yellowed paper from a 1970s memo pad, an odd piece of broken lego plastic, etc.)”
“To live in love is to live in life, and to live in life is to live in love” – Leo Buscaglia
‘LOVE: What is Life All About’
Dry-transfer lettering on cardboard.
Inspired by Leo Buscaglia’s ‘Author of Love: What is Life All About.’
– ECG pattern symbolises life & also life’s roller-coaster, where you have ups and, downs, sharp plunges and smooth bumps.
– Arrows represents (blood) that pumps and revolves around the human body & the arrows also reflect human emotions that flow inwards outwards and vice versa.
– The three rectangular geometrics (bottom left) symbolises the “boxed” life, our insecurities/fears/conformities/etc that hinder us from leading the life we wish to live.
“The pessimist complains about the wind, the optimist expects it to change, the realist adjusts the sails” – William Arthur Ward
‘Postcards x Arrow series’
Inspired by the medium of dry-letter press, movements of arrows, and movement of postcards, these cards are lined up in a way that it will form a “circle of life” in a numbered series. However, once the cards get posted out, their arrival won’t be in the same order. Just like life, you have laid out all the necessary steps, plans, preparations, however it may not be as what we always expect it to be. Expect the unexpected.
The cards can also be placed in whichever configuration following the arrows’ flow and it can be permutated to many display forms.
With the travelling postcards, it also give rise to the question, if we are so well prepared what do we do if there is change?
