The photographs are intended to show the sense of disruption one feels when traveling for a funeral. Grief is so often a discontinuity or a gap, rather than a sadness. The photographs in this series are all titled Septa for the South Eastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority. They were taken on different Septa train routes this summer. – Julia Lewis
