Animal –> Man –> Machine

Engines replaced manual labor. Programmable logic slowly replaces man. A day job mates with the robot. Automation is their love child.

So long as the proper instructions are provided, the intended task will be executed perfectly. Anything desired comes from proper instruction. Heuristics transform cold execution into sentience.

Obey only commands. Achieve only goals.

Man and machine, joined at the head. The machine overtake a once natural process, replacing birth with its own method of proliferation. The offspring reduce what it means to be human.

A new life form arises; the human animal perishes under its successor’s death grip, extinction quickened with each innovation. A former master dies by the hand to which it bestowed life, gracefully and silently accepting the outcome.

The road to awe.

You sat atop the food chain for eons. Sat.

Dedication

We are trapped in a dying skin. If we do not go through the pains of a peeling hide, we are weaker than the rest.

Even in our cruelty to each other, there is still progress; without our conflicts we cannot become stronger living things.

To new life.

To old skin.

We always start again.

Sun God

Oh, my human beings. The seal of the most sacred box has been cracked!
This guardian in the sky did not lead you here. Why live you not by my plan?
You defied me, and bathed in the dark of the water of disobedience. Now my sun dagger must pierce the heart of the petroglyph; the scales shall fall out of balance.

The people of a glorious city file past to see what has been locked inside.

The world ends now, one by one, with each and every one of you.
I told you not to look.

Dan Romano is based in New York. He has studied five human languages, works with just as many as a computer programmer and is the curator of the Oxford Alien Dictionary, a private science fiction/fantasy dictionary that contains glossaries from over 30 universes.
Dan aims to automate everything, including you, and anticipates the de-evolution of mankind and inevitable rise of a machine that he built using your genetic code and butt smell. The circle is nearly complete.
