144 Meadowbank Lane
It was not so much the murder
and amount of body’s there
but the scale of the mutilation
and torture that took place
before the point of death
had actually occurred.
That’s the first time I’ve seen
Forensics throwing up…
and not just one but three of them.
The lanky one they call Dracula
was saying prayers as he vomited.
I just don’t know?
A week ago in Nepal
a schoolteacher starts crying
tears of blood,
touches twelve people
in wheelchairs
and they rise up and walk away.
A God Damned living,
breathing miracle.
24 hours later
she dies of a brain aneurysm.
Now this happens… Jesus Christ!
The Devil dearly loves to checkmate
with a bloody sucker punch or two.
Mouthful Of Question Marks
Don’t sheep-follow anyone.
Upset the applecart often.
Break things apart
have a look inside
work out what makes things tick.
Be an Individual,
don’t group yourself to anything.
Read more books.
Watch documentaries
on how cricket balls are made, etc.
Did you know that if
you have to go live in the woods
that you can use old shoe soles
as hinges on your makeshift door?
Ask questions until you’re blue in the face.
Stop and look at architecture,
visit art galleries and derelict abattoirs.
Learn to make things out of nothing.
Watch how other people do things
then strike out on your own.
Fall in love with someone
who will encourage you as you grow.

Paul Tristram is a Welsh writer who has poems, short stories, sketches and photography published in many publications around the world, he yearns to tattoo porcelain bridesmaids instead of digging empty graves for innocence at midnight; this too may pass, yet. Buy his books ‘Scribblings Of A Madman’ (Lit Fest Press) – ‘Poetry From The Nearest Barstool’ – and a split poetry book ‘The Raven And The Vagabond Heart’ with Bethany W Pope.
